IND vs SA 1st T20i: South Africa Beat India by 7 wickets

IND vs SA 1st T20i: South Africa  Beat India by 7 wickets

A fourth-wicket century partnership between David Miller and Rasi van der Dussen, who maintained their IPL form, helped South Africa beat India by seven wickets in the first T20 match to win 12 consecutive T20 matches.  Also broke the chain.  India made 211 for four against South Africa with the help of Ishant Kishan's 76 off 48 balls.  In reply, South Africa won with 5 balls to spare. IPL Miller, who scored 449 runs for the champion Gujarat Titans, scored an unbeaten 64 off 31 balls with the help of 4 fours and 5 sixes and Van der Dussen scored 75 off 46 balls with the help of 7 fours and 5 sixes.  The duo added 131 runs for the fourth wicket to take India out of the match.  It cost India dearly to give Van Dusen a 29-run lead in the 16th over when he was caught by Shreyas Aiyar off Avesh Khan.  All the Indian bowlers proved to be very expensive.  Hershel Patel scored 43 runs in 4 overs and Akshar Patel scored 40 runs while Bhuvneshwar Kumar scored 43 runs in 4 overs.

Earlier in the IPL, Ishaan, who was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 15 crore 25 lakh in the IPL4

, did not do well, but he gave India a great start today. He was accompanied by Rituraj Gaikwad who himself was flopping in the IPL. Ishaan hit 11 fours and three sixes in his innings. Shreyas Aiyar has 36 and K. L. Rishabh Pant, captaining India for the first time, scored 29 runs due to Rahul's injury. In response, South Africa started fast but their wickets kept falling at regular intervals. In Avesh Khan's second over, skipper Temba Bawuma hit two fours and Quinton Diak hit one four. In the third over, however, Bhuvneshwar Kumar caught Bawuma behind the wicket by Pant to give India their first victory. In the fourth over, Dwayne Pretorius and Diak hit Chahal with one six and two fours respectively. Seeing the pace increase, Pant handed over the ball to Herschel Patel and he gave away just one run in his first over and also bowled the dangerous Pretorius, who scored 29 off 13 balls with the help of a four and four sixes.

Diakak often fell victim to Patel by scoring 22 runs. Miller and Van Dussen then took the lead. Before the start of the match, South Africa suffered a setback when batsman Aiden Markram was ruled out with a positive corona. He was replaced by Tristan Stubbs. India started well and Ishaan and Gaikwad added 51 runs in 6 overs of Powerplay. In Keshav Maharaj's first over, Ishaan hit two fours. 13 runs were made in this over including 5 wickets. Kagiso Rabada tried to ease the pressure by giving only 2 runs in the second over but in the next over, Gaikwad opened the hand to Enrich Narkia by hitting the first six of the innings on a short fine leg.

In this over, Ishaan completed 50 runs of India with 2 fours.  In the first ball of the 7th over, Dwayne Pretorius gave life to Gaikwad off Wayne Parnell near the boundary.  Gaikwad's score at that time was 17, but after this six, he was caught behind the wicket on the next ball.  Gaikwad scored 23 off 15 balls.  After 10 overs, India's score was 102 for one.  On the first ball of the last over, Narkia got Pant caught by Van der Dussen.  In his first match as captain, Pant was dismissed for 29 off 16 balls.  After this Dinesh Karthik came on the field and was greeted by the spectators with the noise of 'DK DK' but IPL winning captain Hardik Pandya hit a six in this over.
